Beginners Clothes-making Weekend
Are you looking to start making your own clothing, do you just crave the time and space to create something beautiful for yourself? Then the Beginners Dressmaking Weekend is for you!
Beginners Dressmaking Weekend
Date: Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th March 2023
Location: West Wales, SA38 9BS
Time: 10 am - 4:30 pm each day
In our Spring term Beginners Dressmaking Weekend we'll be making the Amaya Top by Made My Wardrobe.
This is the ideal class for those looking to begin making their own clothing, as lots of techniques will be covered - just see what our previous students have to say about our Beginners Dressmaking Weekends.
All levels are welcome but is ideal if you have already mastered the basics of using a sewing machine - a perfect class to take after the Beginners Sewing Class, or equally for a more intermediate sewist who wants a gently paced dressmaking course.
What you will learn on the Beginners Dressmaking Weekend
how to choose your pattern size
advice on choosing fabric
how to trace a pattern and make simple fit adjustments
how to sew raglan sleeves
how to bind a neckline
how to hem a garment
how to sew French seams
On the first day, I will help you choose a size and you will make the most of our cutting table to trace your pattern and cut your fabric. We can also look at any possible adjustments you may want to make.
My most prolific makers might choose to cut two garments, and why not? Both don’t need to be finished by the end of the class, but it’s nice to take advantage of the cutting space!
On the second day, you can fully immerse yourself in making your garment. You will learn how to finish your garment with French seams, and an introduction to using an overlocker can be given if you are tempted to try it out.
The pace of the Beginners Sewing class is relaxed due to the fact we have the whole weekend, so there is plenty of time for personal fitting and support for each student.
Spaces are limited to 6 participants per class to provide the ultimate learning experience
What previous students have to say...
"Camille is my favourite kind of teacher - funny, kind and relaxed, knowledgeable and experienced but unassuming! It feels good at the end of class to have changed into 'someone who can now sew'!"
"The weekend exceeded my expectations. The group was a good size, with a mix of people with different skills, but nobody who was super proficient, which made me feel less self conscious about not understanding the pattern or sewing terms."
The Beginners Dressmaking Weekend is £276. Payment plans are available here.
