Location: The vestry, SA38 9BS Newcastle Emlyn

Four threads, two needles and one blade: the overlocker is quite understandably the source of much fear and frustration. But believe me, once you know how to deal with the beast, it will completely change the way you think of making clothes. Conquer the overlocker for the better.

What you will learn:

  • how to thread your overlocker.

  • best sewing threads.

  • how to adjust tension, stitch length and width.

  • how to set up the overlocker to create different seams and finishes.

  • how to remove the blade for optional cutting

  • troubleshooting common issues

  • how to use the overlocker to sew a simple garment

This course is primarily for students who've already purchased their own overlocker however two spaces are open to students who do not have one yet.  Get in touch before booking to ensure I will have a machine for you.

Suggested patterns:

All the suggested designs are easily constructed and can be sewed on your overlocker.

Already have a simple tee pattern you wish to use?

No problem; send me the design to check suitability but as long as you have something simple to turn your hand to in an afternoon I'm happy.

Before the course, you will need to purchase your course pattern, fabric and cut the garment ready for the day. As always I'm on hand for any additional support so if the thought of doing this on your own is putting you off do let me know and we can arrange an alternative option.

On the day
